Justin Bieber is a Canadian songwriter, singer and actor that was discovered through YouTube. He has since the released many songs and albums and become a household name across the world. He has won several awards and been signed to various labels.

He was raised in Stratford, Ontario as an only child of Jeremy Jack Bieber and Patricia Mallette. He was, however, raised by Patricia Mallette as a single mother. He , however, has younger half-siblings. He has mixed ancestry since his mother is French-Canadian and his paternal great grandfather had German ancestry. He also has Scottish, English and Irish roots.

He learnt to play various instruments when he was growing up including drums, piano, guitar and trumpet. He graduated from St. Michael Catholic Secondary School in Stratford Ontario with a 4.0 GPA. Beiber’s performances were first seen by the world when his mother posted a YouTube video of him singing Neyo’s ‘So Sick’ for a local singing contest. He was only 12 at the time. As she continued to post more videos of him, Beiber’s popularity continued to increase.

He was discovered by Scooter Braun, then marketing executive of So So Def Recordings. He tracked him down and with the help of church elders, convinced Beiber’s mother to let Bieber go with him to Atlanta, Georgia to record. Just a few days later, he started singing for Usher. He was signed to Raymond Braun Media Group and later to Island Records. Chris Hicks was appointed to be his manager.

‘On Time’ was the first single from Bieber. It was a major hit and in just one week of its release, it was ranked number 12 on the Canadian Hot 100 and just shortly after, it was number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100. It gained popularity in and out of the country and was certified platinum in the US and Canada. In New Zealand and Australia, it was certified gold. He then released ‘My World’ ‘Love Me’, ‘One Less Lonely Girl’, and ‘Favorite Girl’ which also ranked highly in the charts. he featured in the remake of ‘We Are The World’ and the new version of ‘Wavin’ Flag’. In 2010, he released ‘Baby’ from his first album and ‘My World 2.0’ featuring Ludacris. They were accompanied by ‘U Smile’ and ‘Never Let You Go’. All of these songs were major international hits. By July 2010, he had the highest celebrity searches on the internet but his video for ‘Baby’ became he most disliked video at the time. By September, 23% of traffic on Twitter was about Justin Bieber.

He recorded his third album, ‘Believe’ towards the end of 2011. The song, ‘Boyfriend’, from that album was ranked second on the US billboard Hot 100 chart. It was number one on the Canadian Hot 100. He released more songs in 2013 including ‘Heartbreaker’ and ‘Bad Day’. In 2015, he released ‘Sorry’ and ‘What do you mean’ which were also international hits. He worked with Major Lazer to release ‘Cold Water’ in 2016 and with DJ Snake to release ‘Let Me Love You’. In 2017, he was featured in Daddy Yankee and Luis Fonsi’s remix for ‘Despacito’ the remix helped the original song move up the charts. He also worked with DJ Khaled, Quavo, Lil Wayne and Chance the Rapper to release ‘I’m the One’.
